for 7th-12th graders in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties.

Since 2000, NEOSEF Grand Prize Winners have earned:

  • Three 1st Place awards

  • Three 2nd Place awards

  • Two 3rd Place awards

  • Three 4th Place awards

  • Two Best of Category Awards

  • Many Special Awards at the ISEF

NEOSEF has also had 44 Semi-Finalists and 4 Finalists in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (formerly, the Broadcom Masters Program).

2026 NEOSEF GRAND PRIZE WINNERS

Congratulations to the following 6 Grand Prize Winners at the 2026 NEOSEF. They will represent northeast Ohio as Finalists at the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair in Phoenix, AZ, this May.
  • Hassan Al-Shafee, Normandy High School – “Beyond the Riemann Hypothesis: A Novel geometric Approach to Deterministic Prime Location for Enhanced Cryptographic Security”
  • Karan Bahl, University School – “Early-Stage Inference of Wildfire Spread Dynamics Using Physics-Constrained Deep Learning”

2026 NEOSEF – 7th-8th GRADE GRAND PRIZE WINNERS

We would like to congratulate our two 7th-8th Grade Grand Prize winners at the 2026 NEOSEF:
  • Dhriti Jayant, Columbia Middle School – “Protecting Probiotics: How Buffer Foods Affect Curd Probiotics During Digestion”
  • Harshith Nelabothla, Strongsville Middle School – “Real-Time ASL Word Recognition System”
In addition to the honor and $100 award for placing 1st in their respective categories and all the Special Award prizes, the 7th-8th Grand Prize winners also received $250 in cash award.
         

2026 EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD

The Dr. Bapu Gokhale Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes one teacher in the middle school/junior high level, and one teacher at the High School level. Along with a Certificate of Recognition and a crystal plaque, these teachers will each receive a $500 monetary  award. We are pleased to announce this year’s recipients are:
  • Ms. Lori Cohen from Mentor High School, and
  • Mr. David Dahnert from St. Dominic School

NEOSEF Winners on WKYC (2023)

The Grand Prize winners from the 2023 NEOSEF were featured on WKYC after they attended the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, TX. Their projects were on display at the Great Lakes Science Center throughout June, 2023.
