NEOSEF Winners on WKYC (2024)
The 2024 NEOSEF science fair was featured on the Grow STEM segment on WKYC. It showcases the innovative ideas of Northeast Ohio's middle and high school students on various scientific and engineering challenges.
Over 300 students participated in the fair, competing in various categories from biology and physics to environmental and artificial intelligence projects. The students presented months of research and experiments with the aim to solve real-world problems. For instance, one student researched using invasive plant species to create paper as a substitute for plastic. Another student developed an AI system to detect plant diseases to minimize crop loss.
Over 200 science and engineering professionals volunteered as judges in the event. Five winners of the fair will be representing Northeast Ohio at the international science and engineering fair in Los Angeles, CA - who will be getting an all-expenses-paid trip to compete.
